Thank you for your interest in helping the Washington 601 Squadron of
the U.S. Air Force Civil Air Patrol.
While we are
the official auxiliary to the United States Air Force, they only budget money for
the Search planes and the passenger vans we use to search and train
with.
Our VOLUNTEERS receive NO PAY
and almost exclusively BUY ALL THEIR OWN personal
equipment including gasoline for their cars, uniforms, boots,
search gear such as hand held radios, compasses, flash lights,
batteries, tents, sleeping bags, dehydrated and canned food.
This adds up to hundreds and in some cases thousands of dollars
in personal expense just to volunteer to serve others.
In
addition to the volunteers personal gear, small squadrons
such as 601 must provide almost all their own headquarters
equipment. Computers, copy machines, tables, chairs, file
cabinets, projectors for training films, and office
supplies.
Often our volunteers have
to raise funds by car washes, raffles, bake sales much
like a church or high school football team do. This
takes away from the already valuable time the members
spend training and learning, and competes with other
groups in the community for fund raising.
If you have a company or business in the
Washington and Greene Counties, please consider an annual
donation to our squadron. It is 100% tax deductable.
You will benefit from the existence of a squadron
in Washington, through education, disaster
relief, search and rescue, and community
service. If you are ever in an airplane accident
and survive, it will most likely be the Civil Air
Patrol that will be the first to find
you and a Civil Air Patrol Search Team that gets
you to safety.
You are welcome to join and directly
support the Squadron, but if you do not have
time or are physically unable to be involved,
you can help by donating to our squadron.
Make
donations to:
